The back pain has been gradual and is also in my hips.

I injured my back about a week and a half ago (I believe it was from being a bit hunched over while being torn in half by menstrual cramps). The painful area is in a band across my back, about as wide as my hand, the bottom of the painful area being right about at the bottom of my ribs. I don’t have medical insurance, so all I can afford to do in terms of professional help is to go to the chiropractor (which I am). Does anyone have any advice on supplements, home treatments/remedies, exercises, and over-the-counter treatment? I’m in quite a bit of pain and have been missing a lot of work. I have heard that people with diabetes should not take cold, flu or pain medications. Why is this? Also, I have heard that they should avoid exposure to high heat and humidity? Why is this? I also would love to know what it is exactly, and why you need to watch what you eat and use a meter?

It’s not specifically pain, I just have a recurring dull ache, and I don’t think that my sleeping position helps with it much. Is there one which is more partial to easing tension in my lower back?
